Friday Night Randoms

You know there are those days where you just don't feel like blogging?  Not so much because you don't want to, but more because you're tired, or busy, or don't have all that much to say.  This week was one of those weeks.  I don't have a concrete post but here are some random things:

  • I talked to my friend whose mom was diagnosed with lung cancer and wow, was it a difficult conversation.  She sounded fine - at first - but then I had to say something about it and she just lost it - as expected.  I truly think about her all the time and wish I had a way to help her, or even give her a big hug from across the country.
  • I miss C.  There, I said it.  However, it hasn't been all that difficult at all with him gone.  Sure, I wouldn't mind someone to be next to me when I'm woken up at 4 am by strange sounds, but I have really enjoyed my time with my girlfriends and family, and I have loved my alone time watching Project Runway marathons.
  • That being said, my Tivo is still much more full then it normally would be, as I have decided to record all kinds of crazy, girly reality TV that I would never watch when C is in town.  The problem is, he is sorta kinda ridiculously anal about clearing out our TiVo so that should be fun when he comes home and sees it is 90% full!
  • Leave it to the DVR gods to never be able to keep my all-time favorite show, Friday Night Lights, on a season pass.  We set it, and it NEVER records.  So every week, we have to manually find it on the schedule and record it.  Problem is, life sometimes gets in the way and way too often have we been chatting over a third glass of wine at a restaurant and realize that "oh SHIT we forgot to record FNL tonight!".  Thankfully, I remembered for tonight.
  • I have had the most insane week at work and while I love it and wouldn't want it any other way, it makes me tired and not wanting to talk at all once I leave the office.  Yes, that includes phone chats with the family and friends.  It's Friday night at 7:13, and I am more than happy to be at home, in my pajamas, drinking an amazing (LARGE) glass of Pinot Noir, and blogging.  Nope, not ashamed to admit it.
  • Speaking of blogging, do you guys ever feel just horrible about missing a day or two of some of your freader's blogs?  I always do, but the time in the day just escapes me and I always try to catch up - sometimes it's just hard.  Is that why people do Google Reader?  What is that by the way?

i am totally with you on this post. clearly because i am sitting at home, watching tv, eating, and drinking some cabernet. and reading blogs. catching up on blogs. because i tend to get so busy at work (or have 8 hour client meetings) and don't have time to check my reader and actually read. but friday night? why not?

cheers! (lifts glass of wine toward laptop and hopes she doesn't spill it on the computer)

Girl, you need to get Google Reader. You upload the links to all of your favorite blogs then it tells you when they've updated. That way, you don't have to click through your blogroll a million times.

Also, Mark is away in England this weekend (as you read) and I'm laying on the couch watching HGTV with my laptop and some nachos, just missing a glass of wine. And I'm enjoying myself! (Of course, I still miss him like crazy).

I love google reader. It tells you when blogs update but I still get too busy to read all of them sometimes.

I wish I had DVR. I work Thurs nights and love Lost and have to watch it on the PC friday mornings (I work the evening shift) and it is just not the same.

I really wish I had DVR, it would make my life so much easier. One day, one day...haha.

I love Friday Night Lights, too! And my DVR always forgets to record What Not to Wear. Yah, I said it. I love it.

xox

I am just like your 5th bullet. Except that's me every evening. I just have to be by myself for an hour or two. I think I'm going to look into google reader, sounds like a good tool.

You could write an entire post on how you miss C, and I would totally understand. (Those who matter won't mind, and those who mind don't matter.)

I'm glad you're at least finding the up side to him being gone. Good for you! Enjoy your girly programs, and lounging around!

I totally don't do google reader either. I just mark it on my favorites :) Wish I could have a huge glass of wine (I am 8 months pregnant) but you enjoy!!

I was totally going to email you this weekend, but can't find your email address on this page anywhere! Am I blind?

Yessss whenever I miss a day or two of reading people posts, I feel like ive neglected my friends hahah.

I hate when my DVR has a mind of it's own and decides not to tape specific shows - that being said I have a DVR filled with girly craptastic television that Ican't wait to indulge in when my hubby is at work! I thought I was the only one without Google Reader but that makes two of us!

I try to go the weekend without reading and I feel terrible on Monday mornings when my reader is full and some people haveposted twice!

I'm sorry your week was so stressful. Hopefully this one will be better for you :)

i cannot believe you don't use google reader! it'll make your life easier - you should do it! :)

Google Reader is great because then you don't have to feel guilty about missing a post. It's all there even if you don't get to it until a few days after it's been posted.

Also, I love TiVo precisely because you can tape your old favorite shows or whatever and then if you're bored you always have something to watch. The idea of anally clearing it out is shocking to me.

I signed up for google reader a couple of days back. Can't believe I went through all these months without it. Although it is a scary idea to wake up to a hundred odd post everyday, it does make my life easier. Missing posts is a blog-guilt you will have to deal with, who doesn't.

And lone life wouldn't seem doable with TiVo.

dude...i have a tivo, and it's set to auto record certain shows and it never does either...maybe our tivo boxes are related, and share the same defect.
