Yup. That's how I felt every time Ryan Seacrest graced us with his presence on stage at the Emmy's last night. But I still watched every second of it.
See, I'm a television whore and addict. There, I said it. And I'm not even ashamed. I love TV, I work in TV, I think about TV. Like if I'm having a shitty day at work I sometimes think, "oh, well (insert good show here) is on tonight! Woohoo!" Or I'll remember the chocolate cookie on my desk and I'll get just as happy.
Every year when the Golden Globes or the Emmy's are on, I look forward to it. Last night we had some friends over, filled out the ballots, drank wine, ate food and watched the show. Was the show exciting? No. Memorable? No. High-larious? Absolutely not. Will I do the exact same thing next week? You better believe it sisters!
Actually, this weekend was also filled with one word for C and I - compromise. Friday night, we went to dinner with my sister, her husband, and her friend and boyfriend. It was great just to sit in a small Italian restaurant over wine and laugh.
Saturday, C went to help his best friend move and at 1 asked me if I could pick him up and take him to his work softball game. This was something that wasn't on my list of "fun Saturday activities" but I could tell how much he wanted to go and he didn't have his car on him so, was it even a question? Afterwords, we watched the USC game at a friend's house for a bbq.
On Sunday, C repaid the favor by helping me move out of my old office. I had been putting it off for a couple of weeks but it was about time. And as I was wiping off all of my shelves and packing the last of my pictures, C asked me if was sad. Was it bad that I wasn't sad at all? Just excited.
C and I then went to a nearby sports bar / Mexican restaurant to watch the Chicago Bears game. We met up with some friends, had a margie (or two), and while the game was boring, I at least had quasi-celebrities to stare at. Let me just interject and tell you that to see C's face upon entering the bar was priceless. The bar has about 30 flat screen TV's. Football EVERYWHERE. Different groups of people cheering every three seconds for different plays. C was in serious sensory overload. It was like sending me into Bloomingdales and saying "go! It's all freeeee!"
And then we came home for the Emmy's. And that, my friends, was my weekend. Hope yours were good too!
